So, how to make money from blog curation? This won’t be a long post as we follow up on our previous tutorial on how to
curate articles that get attention. Making money from curation starts with knowing the niche you are going into.

For example, if it’s in the dating area, you need to spend a little time understanding what makes this niche tick. What are
the concerns of the people involved in this area? What some of the questions they are likely to be asking and what are the
solutions they are looking for.

This is a niche I have succeeded in and when I entered it, I combined a little of what I already knew and what others
wanted. The first thing I did was spend a little time in the relationship forums. It wasn’t a long time in fact, I probably
didn’t need to be in these forums for more than an hour before I understood what it was that people were looking for.

Making money from blog curation starts with knowing what problems people are having and then providing them with the
solution. Another niche I have entered and done well with is retirement planning. Okay, so now you know two niches I am
involved in but you know, I don’t mind sharing.

Why?

Because I am established in them. Retirement planning is different than dating but the one thing it has in common with
dating and relationships is that people need solutions. Does that make sense?

So in summing up, here are the four main things you need to know in how to make money from curation:

- Understand the language your niche is speaking
- Know what they consider important
- Learn their biggest problems and you can do this by looking for forums dedicated to this niche (big-boards.com)
- Find out what they read, watch and listen to

That’s it. We’ll look at how to get your posts ranking next.

Meanwhile, if you want to learn blog curation from the best in a no nonsense style and where the problems others are having
with Google won’t matter, then click here.

In the next couple of posts, I want to concentrate on the art of curation and just look at some of the basics you need to be doing. How to curate an article that gets attention means picking the right article; how to prepare the intro and how to finish it off.

Undoubtedly, the most important key in curating an article in my opinion is whether the piece you are presenting to your blog audience is providing value of any kind.

Value added content is key to succeeding in curation and with the recent Google Penguin dance, it becomes even more important. This is not going to be a long post…I just want to touch on certain aspects that if you do them, your article will get attention.

As far as I’m concerned, to take this to the next level and become a curation champ, then there is training available that’s in depth and will teach you to be among the top five per cent who are doing this correctly. I’ll provide a link to that blog curation training below.

Most Import Aspects Of Curation

Meanwhile, here are the most important aspects of curation.

- you need to ask yourself are you providing value to your readers and that’s why picking the right article matters

- you need to ask yourself if the person reading the curated post is going to learn anything that they can take away or apply or even better, share with others

- did it provide some sort of solution to a problem or issue they may be having

- are you presenting it in such a way that it’s easily understandable

- would they be inclined to want to share it with other folks

- did it add enough value to their lives or in that particular moment that they were impressed enough to want to come back to your site or bookmark it for future reference

And that’s about it. These are the keys in curating an article that gets attention. Sound familiar? Well, there’s not a lot of difference to writing an article from scratch that gets attention is there? This is stuff I taught several years ago in writing article online that people want to read. How about that?

One other thing you need to do is inject your own personality into your intro and outro. That’s important. We’ll talk more about this in our next post.

Meantime, check out Harlan Kilstein’s blog curation course. I’m serious; if you want to do this right and learn from someone who teaches it right and with a touch of tough love, click here.

So, how safe is link building after the Penguin update? Gee, sounds like something out of a Batman episode with the Penguin unleashing his terror on Gotham City. Only it’s not a movie…it’s real.

Many of you after scrambling to try and salvage your rankings following the last week of carnage but the truth is, once you have been in this business for some time you get to read the signals and you know stuff like this is going to happen.

Why?

Because when something becomes fashionable, it causes a slant in one direction which causes imbalance and “Mother Nature”…Google…needs to make a correction. And yes, it stinks and people get hurt but you know what Google wants don’t you and you shouldn’t really be surprised when events like the penguin update happen.

Anyways, I have been doing a lot of analysis and have got my own theories on just how safe link building really is but it doesn’t matter how much someone “wax lyricals” about this, the bottom line is, let’s move on.

I have been looking at what some of the experts have been saying and there is definitely a common theme.

Steven Resell has posted an excellent report on his blog SuperSimpleMarketing.com on what are the best link building practices after the penguin update. Again, this is one man’s opinion but it resonates with those of other smart marketers online.

He says…

“From what I can see from around the web, the Penguin update (formerly called the “webspam update”) dealt with what Google deems “unnatural” links that had an over-optimization of anchor text amongst other things.”

Click here to visit the original source of this post

Then there is a more comprehensive report from the team at MicrositeMasters.com who answer the question “Is SEO dead after the Penguin update?” They say no but you need to act smarter. They give us five ways to do so and there is a lot of similarity with what Steven Resell talks about in his post. They say…

“The new Google Penguin update was a big change that has been very unsettling to SEO’ers, both blackhats and whitehats. It seems that everywhere you go, people who had previously considered themselves to be “professionals”, are now dumbfounded as their stable authority sites have moved from ranking in the top 5 for competitive keywords, to not ranking at all.

There has never been more whispers (both jokingly and not), that SEO is dead. Which leads me to…..”

Click here to visit the original source of this post

I could present lots of these type of reports with experts presenting their own analysis but the truth is, you should get the idea and rather than get upset, look at your sites honestly and assess whether you may have crossed the line, especially in your optimization of them.

These are the situations where some bounce back stronger and better and that can be you. The one thing you need to understand with Google is that they don’t make idle threats and warnings have been coming for a long time. This is one beast you don’t want to “bury your head in the sand” over and hope it goes away.

One man who has sat back with a smile on his face is Harlan Kilstein. He teaches blog curation and has kept his students informed right to the minute on what was coming and how to prepare for it. Pound for pound, there is no better teacher of online marketing on the net. Avoid wild animals like penguins and pandas and click here to learn what he is teaching in his course.

Blog curation is pretty much one of the hot topics in the internet marketing world right now but as I warned recently, just be careful who you learn this stuff from. Today, it’s about how to curate from a book. There are some things you need to know before you start curating from books.

I’ve been curating since I started working. As a journalist, especially when I started out, my task was to curate filler stories from the press releases we used to receive and fast forward a couple of decades later, I’m still doing it but making money online curating.

How cool is that?

Anyways, Harlan Kilstein is one of just two or three people who I know are teaching blog curation correctly. By correctly, from the ground up and giving Google what it wants in terms of content and how it’s presented. I’m cringing at some of the stuff I’m seeing being peddled out there and some marketers have even resorted to ripping off reputable teachers.

But that’s another story.

The purpose for today’s post is to show you how to curate a post from a book. Harlan Kilstein takes you from start to finish and the video presentation is about sixteen minutes long. If curating is what you are interested in then this will be the best sixteen minutes you spend online today.

Click here to visit the original source of this post

The truth is, it doesn’t take too long to curate a post and in the process, you are giving the reader what they are searching for.

Is this the type of training you think you can benefit from? Do you like the way Dr. Kilstein presents and teaches? It’s just a small example but if you want to learn more about his blog curation course, click here.

I want to warn you though. Harlan Kilstein’s approach is no nonsense and he doesn’t mince words. If you hated being in a classroom with a strict teacher who seemed like they were watching you every minute of your class time, then maybe this might not suit you. But if it doesn’t bother you and you just want to learn, go here.

So, how to rank number one of Google? Well, we’ve got the answer for you in today’s post from one of the most astute online marketers in the business, Mark Dulisse.

I’ve been following Mark for a couple of years now but in the past twelve months, he has risen through the ranks of internet marketers so much so, that it’s got to the stage where you hang onto almost every word he posts.

And when he says he has come up with the formula of how to rank on top in Google, you better listen to what he has to say.
But it may take you planning your online business from scratch.

Things have changed. No longer can you just produce content for the back link. It has to count and that means becoming trusted by Google itself and in doing so, earning the reward of being catapulted to the top of the search engines.

But how?

Easier said than done but Mark has put together a fantastic guide on his blog at markdulisse.com that shows you the how, where, when and why. In fact, I’m wondering how long it is before some unscrupulous marketer swipes it and tries to sell it. It’s absolutely free.

In the early days of Google, co-founder Larry Page set up a link analysis algorithm to determine how a web page ranks in the search engine, from where we get the term “PageRank.” While the exact formula is Google’s closely guarded secret, SEOs estimate that the quality and quantity of backlinks make up about 70% of this ranking factor. Other metrics mainly focus on on-page seo factors.

Google is getting tough on SEOs who produce web content simply to spam the search engines with backlinks. Recently they announced on Twitter their recent Panda refresh. This was just the beginning.

Like a FBI raid, with one broad stroke, Google de-indexed millions of websites. Blog Networks such as Build My Rank and Brad Callen’s SEO Link Monster blog network got de-indexed. Many EMD’s (Exact Match Domains) with no content got de-indexed or penalized. Google Bombing (having all your links come from one domain) is history. Anything and everything un-natural has been targeted.

The Google FBI team has expanded its sweep as webmasters worldwide recently received warnings of ‘unnatural’ or ‘artificial’ inbound links, and there has been countless blog posts on how to deal with that…..

Click here to visit the original source of this post

So summing up, the key to ranking number one on Google now is:

- write powerful and unique content
- give Google what it wants in terms of SEO
- becoming an author on Google search utilizing Google+
- guest post for other prominent authors on Google+

Hope that makes sense. And as I said above, this is free content that you would normally have to pay for somewhere else. Outstanding value!

Meanwhile, our next post will be on the hot topic of blog curation again and we will continue to bring you more training on this. It’s a lesson on how to curate from a book. And if you haven’t checked out Harlan Kilstein’s blog curation course yet you can do so by clicking here.

I recently read an article I received in my inbox from a well known marketer and nearly choked. Why? Because to my amazement, the author had keyword stuffed the heck out of it “a la” five years ago. It was a pretty poor effort.

So it got me to thinking of some tips on how to SEO your website from scratch. What are some of the things you need to do to present your site in a manner that will keep Google happy. And then, on queue, an email from one of my favorite marketers lands in my inbox title how to SEO your website.

It was from Steven Resell who listed some of his top on page factors and if you do anything in your business today, spend a couple of minutes to read this post. It will definitely get you on the right track to ranking your pages better. And it will keep Google happy as well.

Some of the factors Steven listed are:

- choosing the most appropriate keyword phrase for your content
- title tags
- length of your content
- the theme you are using and it’s “friendliness”
- meta description
- keyword density
- links
- images

Okay, nothing earth shattering but the truth is, the number of webmasters who still ignore the majority of these factors is a little mind-boggling.

One of the keys when building larger blogs (curated blogs or authority blogs) is to make sure you have your ranking factors in order.

And if you were to ask me how to SEO your website, I’d say: “it boils down to proper post optimization (on-page SEO)”.

How to seo your website picture So, let’s take a closer look at this:
Choose the most appropriate keyword phrase for your content.

The keyword phrase needs to be the most relevant to the question in the searcher’s mind. And it of course it helps that it’s a keyword phrase that people are searching for (you can quickly find out if it is by simply checking the Google Keyword Tool).
Title Tags!

Once you’ve figured out what phrases you want to optimize your content around, you’re ready to get started. The first thing you need to do is to add your keyword(s) in your title. These words WILL affect your results…..

Click here to visit the original source of this post

Let me know what you thought of the tips on how to SEO your site? Are you using all of them? Did you pick up any new tips you can apply right away?

As I said earlier, nothing too earth shattering but this is a simple business and following simple techniques is key to getting your sites ranking well. It really isn’t rocket science.

It’s been eight months since the launch of Google+ and despite the debate on whether it would be effective for affiliate marketing or not, the truth is, it certainly has come a long way in a short space of time. But that’s not surprising given the resources at Google’s disposal and the massive feedback bank they have access too.

But can Google+ help your affiliate marketing business? Can Google+ help you make money online? Well, the jury is still out and today, I want you to listen to a podcast from the guys at Aweber.com who look at the question of what can Google+ do for your business?

This is a follow up report to one they released several months ago and back then, while there were some positives highlighted there were also negatives.

Remember, when something new comes along there will always be detractors but to be honest, the feedback I’ve seen has generally been positive and Google appears to be on the right track here.

Anyways, some of the questions answered in the podcast are:

- How can Google+ help grow your email list?
- What audience type can you expect?
- What content type works best for Google+?
- How can Google+ fit in with your affiliate marketing campaigns?

We made some predictions about Google+ – Google’s new social network – in a podcast a few months ago. What is this new network all about? And how does it compare to Facebook and Twitter for online marketing?

During our first podcast, Google+ was still in a limited beta release. It’s since opened to the public and made some changes to its many features. Now that it’s a new year, we wanted to follow up with our predictions from last year and include some new insights for integrating the social network with your email marketing campaign.

So what’s changed and what does it mean for your online marketing efforts?

How Google+ Has Changed

Google+ has seen some changes since its public release in September 2011. Among the more noticeable changes are:

- Brand pages – profiles designed especially for businesses. And just like personal profiles, brand pages come with Circles that allow you to segment and target your followers easily.

- Hangouts – Google+’s video chat feature – has seen significant improvements too, including screen sharing and the ability to broadcast your hangout to a bigger audience on YouTube.

- Another important change to note for content marketers out there: Posts on Google+ are now included in organic Google search results. In some cases, content from Google+ ranks above actual web sites and articles on the topic you’re searching for…..

Click here to visit the original source of this post

What are your thoughts about Google+? Have you started using it or are you reserving judgment?

It’s all part of the interactive internet we are seeing form before our eyes and one thing is for sure, it is not going to go away. I’d love to hear from you if you are using Google+ and how it is helping your affiliate marketing efforts.

Meanwhile, we talked about blog curation last week and it’s a topic I’ll be covering in more detail over the next few weeks. There is one mentor I’ve had in the past 12 months that knows more about this topic that most of the so called experts out there trying to teach it. His name is Harlan Kilstein. He’s tough and no nonsense and if that’s the type of teacher you want or need, then check out Harlan’s Blog Curation course.

Okay, content curation has suddenly emerged as the latest and greatest craze in the internet marketing world and the truth is, it’s actually been around for a long time. Think the Drudge Report which emerged in the 1990′s.

Plenty of marketers are now trying to cash in on it and it’s like watching a bunch of piranhas in a feeding frenzy all trying to get a piece of the pie. Be careful who you learn from and be wary of those promoting software to make this easier.

As a journalist, I’ve been curating news content for more than twenty years and it’s a model I’ve been using for a long time. I was wondering what all the fuss was about. People have asked me to teach them. But to be honest, I’m going to go one better and tell you about one guy who will not only teach you, but teach you how to make money with it.

First of all, how do you curate a blog post? Well, in a nutshell you want to share information with others in your niche. If it’s horse racing for example and with the Kentucky Derby coming up, you will scan daily news and when you see a piece that you want to share with your readers you curate it.

How? Write two to three paragraphs to introduce and talk about the post. List some bullet points about what’s in it and then add a close of a paragraph or two with a call to action which is usually to invite readers to comment on it. That’s it in it’s crude form but the truth is, there is much more to it.

Anyways, we are going to be delving into content curation a little more over the next few weeks and the following video is perfect for you if you are a little “in the dark” right now. It’s a list of content curation techniques from folks who do it for a living and what I like about this is the various techniques mentioned. Then I’ll tell you who you need to be learning this from and how to make money from it.

I would suggest you watch this video a couple of times to understand the techniques of curation because it goes deeper than just editing an article and adding some unique perspectives of your own to it.

Harlan Kilstein is teaching blog curation to a select group of students and has been doing so since the beginning of 2011. Seriously, I won’t go on too much here but if you want to do this right, create a blog that will make you money and then sell for the big bucks then Harlan Kilstein is one of only two guys online right now you should be learning this from. The other is Peter Spaepen.

I remember when I joined Harlan’s group as one of his initial students how he reminded me of one of my old, grumpy high school teachers. Truth is, he gets the message across and when you are in his class, you learn. He makes sure of it so don’t get on his wrong side. As I’ve mentioned before, Harlan’s Blog Curation course is one of the best five course in internet marketing I’ve seen. And I’ve seen and just about tested them all!

Okay, a short post today but a very valuable one and one which I recommend you bookmark and keep for prosperity’s sake. I’m going to give you 3 sure ways on how to find a super niche and this is a method I use all the time.

When we are talking about a super niche we are basically referring to a niche within a broad topic that will pay you over and over. And a super niche is not just one where you make affiliate sales from by selling someone else’s’ product.

This is a niche that you can start by selling products from platforms such a Clickbank but one which you eventually expand in and make it yours. In other words, you create an email list from it and produce your own products. But that’s a complete course on it’s own.

Today, all I want to do is show you three steps to finding a super niche. Ready?

Here are the three things I look for:

- Check to see if there are Adwords ads on the niche and we are not talking about just one; we want to see them on top of the search page and along the side.

- Go to Dummies.com and see whether there are books published on the topic. Dummies.com is a wealth of information for people looking for a niche to target and you can bet if they have produced a book or video on it, there are people interested.

- We mentioned Clickbank above; go to Clickbank and check to see if there are products on the topic. If there are five or more products then you can feel reasonably confident that there is plenty of interest in this niche

So, there you are; how to find a super niche quickly. This is not rocket science; it’s simple and shouldn’t take you too long. Too many folks will literally get themselves “into a pickle” trying to find a niche to target and one of the reasons is they want to get it perfect first time.

Just get it going; a super niche will virtually take care of itself. Once you have established yourself within the niche as a solid affiliate it’s time to go ahead and start thinking about your own product. When you get to this stage you should have built up a handy email list and one of the first things I like to do is survey the list and ask them two to three questions about what it is they would like in a product.

Try it and let me know how you fare. Leave a comment below as your feedback is always appreciated.

I have mentioned Micro Niche Finder several times lately and in the coming weeks we will be bringing you some tutorials on how it works. The beauty of Micro Niche Finder is that it’s not just a keyword tool; it’s a niche finder too! Hence the name. Click here to learn more about Micro Niche Finder.

It’s been an interesting week or two to say the least. The blog networks de-indexing has captured internet marketing headlines and it seems everyone has an opinion.

The truth is, no one really knows why Google is taking a set against blog networks in fact, no one really knows the real answers to why Google does what it does other than those that make the decisions within it’s wall.

But the bottom line is, when Google says it’s serious about making sure it delivers it’s customers relevant quality content you better believe that’s what it wants. And after being in this business for many years one thing I’ve come to learn, sometimes the hard way, is that Google doesn’t make idle threats when it comes to making sure it provides the best service to it’s customers.

There’s been a lot written just in the past few days and today, I have three posts for you to take a look at from three marketers I respect a lot in Daniel Turner, Dave Kelly and Mark Ling. Actually, Mark’s SEO man Sam Frost has penned the article.

We brought you Michelle Macphearson’s thoughts in our previous post on the deindexing of blog networks and one of the things I find interesting is getting a cross reference of thinking on why what is is happening, is actually happening.

Anyways, grab a cup of Joe and spend the next ten minutes reading the views of some of the best and most respected minds in online marketing. Dan Turner wrote:

“Google has one goal in mind – provide what they believe to be the best possible experience to the user. And for what they are doing, this is the right goal to have.To take it one step further, ultimately I believe their goal would be to have it so that when someone comes to Google, they search for their desired “thing” and there is one result. The only result they need.”

Meanwhile, Dave Kelly doesn’t mince words and of all the editorials written on why Google is de-indexing blog networks his really get you thinking.

“It seems a whole lot of webmasters and some business owners are in full fledged panic mode over the recent de-indexing of ’some’ sites, in ’some’ link building networks, as well as them being concerned about the plethora of messages Google is sending out to webmasters telling them of possible bad linking. Here’s the deal folks. And I know many of you are going to disagree with me but I’ll address that in a few minutes. You have no one to blame but yourself for what has just happened, and what will continue to happen.”

And Sam Frost takes a more diplomatic stance in his post. He looks at why blog networks are being targeted, are blog networks still safe, what now and provides his closing thoughts. He also talks about a service called Content Facilitator which could be worth taking a closer “looksee” at and I’ve provided a link at the bottom of this post. Here’s what Sam says:

“I see three principal reasons why Google has started to crackdown on blog networks, so let me run you through them: Blog networks are a form of paid link building. Google’s policy on paid link building is crystal clear, especially the fact that “buying or selling links that pass PageRank is in violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines and can negatively impact a site’s ranking in search results.” The purpose blog networks is to facilitate link building, and these links are most definitely paid for in a slightly less obvious manner. Google penalized the website of their own Chrome software when it was revealed that a marketing company they used had employed paid backlinks; Google were hardly going to think twice about penalizing other paid link users were they?”

So, there you have it. Internet marketers who haven’t yet been affected will be “trembling in their boots” no doubt but as we mentioned in our last post, this is just another correction on Google’s way to creating a perfect service for it’s customers. Just remember, Google is a moving target and when too many people hammer one particular method and it affects the results they provide, they will come after you.

That’s just the way it is if being in it’s index and ranking well is important to your success in internet marketing.

Meanwhile, we mentioned Content Facilitator above. Is it a blog network? Well yes and no but not in the true sense. This is what happens during times of adversity. New, bigger and better stuff emerges. This could be one of them and it’s just in it’s fledgling state. Click here to learn about Content Facilitator.
