One of my favorite marketers is Steven Resell. No, I am not promoting a product; just steering you into a resource to help you find that “secret” niche that you’ve been looking for. The truth is, there is no such thing as a secret niche but there are niches that have their own special audiences; people who will buy products related to that niche at the “drop of a hat”.

Imagine making yourself an expert in that niche either with a website promoting products or creating your own products for the people involved in it. You would be in “Hog Heaven” and that’s what most of us are searching for. You see, it just takes one niche, not hundreds, to make you a lot of money online.

I first met Steven on the “5 Bucks A Day” forum and to be honest, at the time I thought he was a know-all. He was doing nothing but giving his opinion on how to make money online. Fancy that hey, someone giving advice on how to make money online. But sometimes it takes awhile for the “hammer to drop” and it didn’t take me long to realize this guy had something.

What he had was a bunch of methods on everything to do in making money online that worked like charms and one of the areas he excels in, is keyword and niche selection. Now, I buy anything he puts out and have referenced him a few times on this blog. Funny that isn’t it…after my first impressions of the guy.:)

Anyways, he has posted an amazing resource on his blog on where to find those money making niches and how to take advantage of them. You won’t believe what it is and will have one of those moments I mentioned above.

Andrew has posted an excellent post on his blog laying out a blueprint to make $100 a day online and if this is all you did in 2012 then you would be so far ahead of most other internet marketers that you would be in that small minority actually earning income online.

This is a great time of the year because as we head into a new year, we have new hopes and many of us just want to put the failures of the previous year behind us. I remember only too well about eight years ago when I was on a “losing streak”; that is, I was buying up every program that promised to make me money and the truth is, I had no chance of succeeding.

What made the difference?

Well, I realized I was putting the “cart before the horse”; trying to learn stuff I had no right knowing until I actually had a blueprint to work from. Buying $1000 traffic courses weren’t going to do me any good unless I had something to promote.

Get the picture?

Andrew Hansen is a successful internet marketer and has produced some excellent training programs. But it’s his free stuff that continues to amaze me and the following blueprint is stuff people are charging money for. It’s not rocket science; all it takes is a commitment from you to follow the plan and stick with it.

Pick one model this year and make it your plan to follow it until it starts to make you money. Just promise me you won’t go off and jump on the latest craze that is being peddled. Put it this way, if what you’re doing now and paying for is not doing you any good what have you got to lose to try this for free?

Do that and I’ll guarantee you that you will see results.

Ok, friend, here it is. This is how I think anyone reading, can go from $0 to $100 a day in affiliate/ad income with almost no work and but a minor investment in 2012.

Is this a plan for income overnight? No. This is a 12 month plan. It’s a plan for anyone who can put their entrepreneurial ADD on hold long enough to focus on one thing for an entire year (you know… the way real business people do). This is a plan to generate a lasting income from a solid business; A plan to reach $100 a day initially, and push from there to $1000 a day and beyond.

This is not a “new” concept either. It’s just a smart one. You ready? Here goes…..

Remember the last couple of paragraphs and read them again. This blueprint on how to make $100 a day online in 2012 isn’t going to happen overnight. It is going to take some patience and work from you. The internet marketing landscape is littered with the corpses of people who have tried the get rich quick stuff and failed.

So should you build your website and target one niche and product? This is what most affiliate marketing training courses are teaching today and yes, it’s a good way to earn money online.

But I’ve always held a long term belief that having at least one site that doesn’t generalize on one niche and product is just as effective, provided you do it the right way and monetize it with appropriate offers. This point was recently brought up by Matt Carter on his blog and it was refreshing to see.

He takes a look at a site built in this manner and then offers reasons why you should consider creating a similar site.

“The advantage of building a site that is not targeting any one specific niche is that you get a choice of topics you can write about and adding content to your site is endless. This is a great, because if some of the pages you build and do your SEO on don’t work out for you, then all is not lost, as you can just find more keywords and add more content and carry on.”

Makes good sense and the point I want to make is have a little diversity in your online real estate just as you would if you were setting up a retirement planning investment strategy.

Now the other thing I want to touch on is that making money online is often portrayed as being easy. The truth is it’s not and the sooner you realize that it takes lots of sweat equity, the sooner you’ll start to realize income. If you have been told that you can put a site up one day and start collecting life changing income the next just “run for the hills.”

A good mix of websites will enhance your portfolio and one of the other advantages is that once the site has authority, ranking for a particular page becomes easier and faster. Remember, search engines rank pages and not websites but building a page on a website with authority has huge advantages over the smaller one product sites.

When looking for products to promote for example on Clickbank, look for those that offer recurring commissions. Affiliate commissions of a recurring nature will pay you over and over again as opposed to going for the one hit wonders that pay you once and then you’ve got to start all over again.

Even better, affiliate programs that offer a two tiered commission structure are even more lucrative although these can be hard to find. I have several campaigns that were started four or more years ago that still pay me recurring affiliate commission to this day.

Ajith Edassery has written a great post on his blog at DollarShower.com and talks about the right programs you should target to gain affiliate marketing success. He does a good job of breaking down the top three money making tips online and even suggests the right products to target in the niche products area.

Making money online is not rocket science and just needs some focus and application. Find a product and start promoting it and avoid the temptation of trying to promote too many at the one time. Also, resist the temptation to jump on every new system that gets thrown in front of you because all you will do is waste time and not get anything started at all.

Choosing a keyword you think looks a winner is not enough. Even though it meets all the criteria you set including required number of monthly searches and competition numbers, knowing what competition you’re up against is vital.

For example, you may have a keyword that appears to have little competition for you to rank on the first page of Google so you go ahead and create an article or post around it and suddenly find you can’t make it to page one on the search results.

Many of you will be working a full time job and dabbling a little in affiliate marketing. That’s okay. I imagine many of you will also be dreaming of one day being able to earn your full time living working online. That’s okay too. In today’s recession dominated environment, many people are losing their jobs and a good majority are turning their attentions online as a way of making a living.

What does this mean for you? In a word…urgency. You see, the online marketing landscape is growing by the thousands each day. It’s going to get crowded and that means the competition is only going to increase at an exponential rate. In a sense, that’s the bad news but the good news is, you already have a solid head start over the current and future crop of newbies trying their hand at affiliate marketing.

What I’m trying to say is, now is the time to make your move. If you are serious about transitioning from the hobby stage to the pro level now is the time to get going. In the next 2-3 years, this business will continue to grow in numbers and by positioning yourself now for a “slice of the pie”, you’ll be in a solid position compared to the masses who are just entering the fray.

Are You An Affiliate Marketer Yet?

As a small exercise, I had the opportunity to recently take a peek inside another membership service which opened in the past few months and one thing that struck me was the lack of experience contained within it. This was a major launch, promoted as the answer to making money online and from where I sat, looked like an advanced membership.

But when I went through the forum and counted the number of people saying “I’m new to internet marketing” I was simply staggered. Without word of a lie, almost half of this membership were in the newbie category and many had recently been laid off or were looking for answers on how to make money with internet marketing. What was being taught was basic stuff – very basic and that’s why I was surprised.

so if you have been on the internet marketing treadmill for any length of time you are very much at an advanced level and now is the time to apply that knowledge and skill and take it to the next level in 2009. If you’ve made any sort of an income then plan to double it next year as your long range goal. Nail down what worked and then repeat it.
