Why People Fail With Affiliate Marketing

Why people fail with affiliate marketing? I thought about this a lot recently and I have always had my suspicions. I decided to spend a little time on some of the major internet marketing forums and try to get some idea of why people fail at affiliate marketing.

There were two main themes I was getting which coincided with what I suspected. Are you ready?

1. They are looking for quick profits and
2. Information overload

In fact, the two are pretty much related. How? Well, it’s all about making money fast these days and people go looking for quick solutions to bolster their bank accounts. There are plenty of good programs out there that will help people make money online but it’s a learning curve and takes time.

So what happens? People will bounce around from one program to another trying to nail down that system that will lead them to fast profits. They spend a little time; “little” being the operative word and discover there is a little work to be done. No, they can’t wait so they go looking for the next system that will bring piles and piles of cash into their bank accounts within days.

The process repeats itself and it continues over and over again. What happens next? Suddenly people have a hard drive full of information or hundreds of logins to membership areas which they have hardly used and information overload sets in. It’s like being hooked on drugs. It starts to close in on them and they keep looking for the next fix. They feel good for an hour or two before they start to come back down again.

It’s a vicious cycle.

How do I know this? Well, as I mentioned, I did a little research looking for why people fail in affiliate marketing but the truth is, several years ago this was me. It still scares me a little to think about those days and then I console myself by thinking…folks today are better off because the information is better but then again, they are worse off because there is so much of it.

I made a conscious decision 7 or 8 years ago to concentrate on one or two programs. You should too.
